一条短信引发的思考
前天收到一条短信，
138****7224：丁老师，您好。我是南京六级面授班的学生。我最近把自己写的几篇您布置的作文给我大一时的英语老师批改，碰到一个很让我困惑的问题。很多您上课教的用法都被那个老师给否定了，要么说是中文式用法，要么错了。。。。。。。希望您能帮助我解除困惑。
1.Taking a look at our daily life 她说太中文化，要我改成considering our daily life。
2. 还有，We, for instance, ... 她说we是多余词。
3. in urban China 她要我改成 in the urbans of China。
4. 还有downtown Shanghai 是中文式英语。
5. well into 说也不对。
我的解答：这些用法很地道，并且非常常见，上课不可能讲生僻的用法。1. take a look at 看一看, 研究。地道用法。
外刊例句：In this article, we will
take a look at the problem in more depth
2. for instance 是插入语，如果we去掉，则句子缺乏主语。这个老师可能觉得For instance前面不能有词了，但是这是插入语啊！
3. in urban China 在中国的城市。同理，在中国农村 in rural China。urban 是形容词，没有in the urbans of China的说法，但可以说in the cities of China。

in urban China.4. downtown Shanghai 上海市中心，地道英文用法。
外刊例句：On your vacation or business trip, savor the essence of our city from this luxurious Hyatt hotel in downtown Chicago
5. well into 早已进入，深深地进入。
外刊例句：Western society is well into the "Digital Age," the economic and social implications of which have provoked heated debate.
感想：
以上这类短信不是第一次收到了。这位老师把地道的用法说成是中文式英语，暴露出了国内大学英语教学所存在的一个严重问题。大部分老师只知道捧着新视野或者新编大学英语之类的课本教死书，从来不讲课外的东西，不注意提高业务水平，从来不看外刊，不听外台，了解的地道用法少。更不用说呼吁学生多读外刊了。
读外刊不仅可以学到地道英文，而且可以开阔眼界。另外，四六级和考研阅读的文章都是取自外刊。
